Call Her Daddy

Follow along Alex Cooper and the Daddy Gang as they exploit the details of their lives, making you feel a hell of a lot better about yours. Listeners (known as…deep breath…Daddy Gang) initially presumed that Barstool was silencing the hosts for unknown reasons , and an April 21 statement by both Franklyn and Cooper that they legally can't speak out yet” about what was happening only intensified the search for answers.
In his own update , Portnoy defended Barstool's approach throughout the negotiations, saying he had offered half a million dollars to each of the hosts call her daddy podcast drama with bonuses and an increased cut from merch sales, as well as a reduction in their contract duration and the Call Her Daddy intellectual property.

The company has been filing new applications since, looking to register the Call Her Daddy” name in connection with a growing pool of goods and services (i.e., not just entertainment services and podcasts but clothing and accessories, alcoholic beverages, and glassware), presumably in furtherance of an attempt to build the show and its hosts into an even bigger brand for Barstool to bank on. (According to Barstool founder and president Dave Portnoy, the pretty 20-somethings were paid pretty handsomely, each making almost $500,000 in 2019; he claims to have since offered them a guaranteed base salary of $500,000 a year, plus bonuses, among other incentives that he estimated would ultimately net them millions, to return to the show,” the Times reports, as well as a way for them to get the intellectual property.”).
In a revelatory comeback podcast in the feed, Barstool president and show founder David Portnoy explained the blowup from his perspective, and mentioned that the show's two hosts, Alexandra Cooper and Sofia Franklyn, was each earning over $400,000 per year.

The podcast is hosted by Alexandra Cooper and Sofia Franklyn, two women in their twenties who have recently moved to New York City and are exploring their new life, while maybe simultaneously exploiting it. Cooper is a Boston University graduate who vlogs full-time for YouTube.
To make a very long story as short as possible, the New York Post published an article detailing what was going on with the girls at Call Her Daddy and the Barstool executives Portnoy reached a signed 3-year agreement with the women for their podcast.
Presumably seeing an opportunity to parlaying the burgeoning drama - which is playing out on social media as we speak with Portnoy sounding off in videos on the official Call Her Daddy” Instagram account, Franklyn breaking her silence on her own account, and countless media outlets dedicating articles to the feud - into a bankable (and brand-able) moment, Barstool is selling branded merch and filing even more trademark applications for registration.

The Call her Daddy podcast was debuted in 2018, with best friends Sofia Franklyn and Alexandra Cooper as the hosts. Portnoy then hops on the @CallHerDaddy Instagram feed to address Sofia's videos and says he'd be willing to give Sofia her own podcast, separate from the Call Her Daddy brand.
Call Her Daddy, the popular podcast hosted by Sofia Franklyn and Alexandra Cooper, hasn't had any new episodes recently. He also says the company was losing around $100,000 for each missed episode and that Barstool Sports had offered them $500,000 a year plus bonuses to return.

Things came to a head when Sofia, who dates HBO Sports executive vice president Peter Nelson, began asking her boyfriend for legal advice behind the scenes. The podcast was acquired by the Barstool Sports franchise in 2018 and has since become the highest grossing podcast at Barstool, bringing in millions in merchandise and ad revenue.
